Sign up for this Ladies Freeride Workshop for a fun 1.5 days adventure
Norrøna and Tromsø Ski Guides are teaming up to provide a unique, fun 1.5 days for female backcountry skiers/snowboarders. This course is for you if you want to find fun, steep lines for which you will need the right technique but also the right snow and terrain assessment skills.
We will have focus on
- assessing the snowpack
- testing the snowpack in steep terrain
- the skiing technique for steeper terrain, but work on jumps and how to play with small features and obstacles.
This workshop strives to provide a framework for assessing the terrain and determining which line to pick depending on the conditions and skills. Steep skiing has inherent danger, but we strive to reduce the unnecessary risks.
Schedule:
Friday, April 25th: Meet and Greet, and trip planning at Uthuset in Tromsø, time 6-8pm with option to purchase drinks at the bar
Saturday, April 26th: Mountain location to be decided based on weather and conditions. Timeframe around 8-16. Travel as group to a minigolf area, split in 3 groups and rotate through 3 stations.
Participants
Must have own ski or snowboard touring gear and avalanche gear. Must have at least 10 backcountry ski days and knowledge corresponding to a basic avalanche course. Open for first 20 females.
Instructors
Merrick Johnston: freeride elements
