This course is the next step after taking a basic avalanche course and gathering experience on your own.
We will dive deeper into the understanding of avalanche formation. We look at snow crystal transformation and how that relates to snow stability. These topics are not or only briefly mentioned in a basic avalanche course.
This course looks into gauging snow pack stability and how to move in terrain to avoid triggering avalanches and finding good skiing conditions.
There will be training with our avalanche safety equipment.
Previous avalanche knowledge is expected as well as backcountry skiing experience.
